About The Position

This position is designed for a new graduate nurse committed to Fred Hutch’s mission and the care of cancer patients and their families, with ambulatory oncology nursing as their primary clinical practice. The Infusion RN administers chemotherapy, blood products, immunotherapy, and other prescribed treatments. Working with a trained preceptor, the resident nurse develops skills to provide safe, accurate patient care, including assessment, treatment administration, and evaluation of patient response. Clinical practice and patient and caregiver education are central to the role. The residency focuses on nursing care for oncology, immunotherapy, and bone marrow transplant patients. Training covers oncology diagnoses and treatment protocols, safe administration of chemotherapy and supportive treatments, and evaluation of patient response. It also addresses the psychosocial needs of patients and families, including the stages of grief and end-of-life care. During the first two weeks of centralized onboarding, RN residents work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. During unit orientation, residents work shifts that mirror their preceptors’ schedules. The regular schedule is four 10-hour shifts per week, 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., on variable days. The position is based at the Evergreen Clinic in Kirkland, Washington.
