Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center•Seattle, WA
•Onsite

About The Position

This position is designed for a new graduate nurse committed to Fred Hutch’s mission and to caring for cancer patients and their families, with ambulatory oncology nursing as the primary clinical practice. The Infusion RN administers chemotherapy, blood products, immunotherapy, and other treatments. Working with a trained preceptor, the resident nurse develops the skills needed to provide safe, accurate care, including assessment, treatment administration, and evaluation of patient response. Clinical practice and patient and caregiver education are central to the role. The residency focuses on nursing care for oncology, immunotherapy, and bone marrow transplant patients. Training covers oncology diagnoses and treatment plans and protocols, chemotherapy and supportive-treatment administration, evaluation of treatment response, and the psychosocial needs of patients and families, including grief, death, and dying. During the first two weeks of centralized onboarding, RN residents work Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. During unit orientation, residents are paired with preceptors and assigned shifts to mirror their preceptors’ schedules. This includes two 8-hour shifts and two 10-hour shifts per week; some weeks include weekend and evening shifts.
