Production Worker / Packaging Operator - Graveyard Shift

About The Position

The Production Worker / Packaging Operator is responsible for performing both bagging and baler operations, maintaining the ability to switch between functions as determined by Shift Leads. This role involves operating machinery safely and productively, assisting in other production areas, moving and wrapping completed products, and maintaining a clean workstation. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Specific duties include operating bagging and baler machines, shrink wrapping machines, forklifts, and pallet jacks. The role also involves stacking bags on pallets, preparing finished goods for the warehouse, accurately completing production reports, collecting quality control samples, and tagging pallets with relevant information.

Requirements

  • Must maintain the ability to perform both bagging and baler functions.
  • Will be lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing for a minimum of 7 hours per day.
  • Good eye, hand, and foot coordination.
  • Pass the company forklift training.
  • Ability to read and interpret scales.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to adjust the weight and timing of baler and perform simple maintenance.
  • Ability to do simple math calculations.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug screen required.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior forklift and production line experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate machinery in a productive manner using the established safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Assist other production areas as needed.
  • Move and wrap completed products.
  • Assist Shift Leads to start and stop pellet mills.
  • Communicate any moisture or material problems to Shift Lead.
  • Maintain a clean workstation.
  • Operate bagging and baler machines, shrink wrapping machines, forklifts, and pallet jack.
  • Stack bags on pallets, put covers on pallets, and place finished goods in the correct warehouse location.
  • Accurately complete the Bagger production report.
  • Fill pellet sample cups every ton for quality control information.
  • Tag pallets with Quality Control tag including initials, date, ton number, and shift completed.
