About The Position

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience working as an Industrial Pipe Fitter or Pipe Fitter Helper.
• At least 4 years of experience with pipe-fitting processes.
• Demonstrated industrial construction or maintenance experience, including experience on an industrial construction project.
• Ability to read prints, blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, manufacturers' manuals, and instructions.
• Knowledge of pipe-fitting processes for industrial piping and boiler components for a combined-cycle power plant.
• Good leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Good aptitude, manual dexterity, and reading comprehension.
• Ability to work with others as a team player and independently with minimal supervision.
• Good communication with coworkers and supervisors.

• Ability to meet physical demands that include prolonged standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting; occasional lifting, carrying, or moving of up to 50 pounds; working at heights up to 300 feet with proper fall protection; and working outdoors in varying weather.
• Ability to work for periods of up to 12 hours a day.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including a hard hat, safety glasses or goggles, hearing protection, masks or respirators, safety vest, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
• Required tools include a metal tool box with lock; levels; tape measures; framing squares; crescent and pipe wrenches; pipefitter's blue book; channel locks; torch lighter; chalk line; Allen wrenches; line-up bar; combination wrenches; screwdrivers; tip cleaners; leather gloves; cutting goggles; center finder; wraparound; center punch; wire cutters; plumb bob; blinding wedges; hacksaw; ball-peen hammer; combination square, protractor, and center finder set; ratchet drive with sockets; construction calculator; rain suit; and rubber boots.
• Pass a background check, pre-employment drug screen and physical, Audio Safety Essentials, pulmonary function test, and site-specific safety orientation or training.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work, including locations and quantities and sizes of required materials.
• Identify the tools required for tasks.
• Identify safety risks and precautions needed to eliminate those risks.
• Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe to specifications.
• Install valves, hangers, supports, and flanges in piping systems according to plans and applicable specifications.
• Perform tests to ensure the quality of pipe and piping systems.
• Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.
• Work closely with helpers and laborers and occasionally oversee those positions.
