About The Position

An Industrial Pipe Fitter assembles, lays out, installs, and maintains pipe systems. The role involves working on industrial construction projects, including fitting industrial piping and boiler components for a combined-cycle power plant. The position has no direct reports, but may work closely with and occasionally oversee helper and labor positions, providing positional and expertise authority.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience working as an Industrial Pipe Fitter or Pipe Fitter Helper.
• Demonstrated experience in industrial construction or maintenance.
• Ability to read prints, blueprints, and construction drawings.
• Ability to read and interpret technical and manufacturers' manuals and instructions.
• Knowledge of pipe-fitting processes for industrial piping and boiler components for a combined-cycle power plant.
• Knowledge of pipe-fitting procedures and skills.
• Good problem-solving abilities, aptitude, manual dexterity, and reading comprehension.
• Ability to work with others as a team player and independently with minimal supervision.
• Good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors, and good leadership skills.
• Commitment to Zachry values and safety rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work, including locations, quantities, and sizes of required materials.
• Identify the tools required for tasks.
• Identify safety risks and precautions needed to eliminate those risks.
• Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe to specifications.
• Install valves, hangers, supports, and flanges in piping systems according to plans and applicable specifications.
• Perform tests to ensure the quality of pipes and piping systems.
• Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.
• Work closely with and occasionally oversee helper and labor positions.
