About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• At least four years of combined experience and training similar to that required in a bona fide Pipefitter apprenticeship; or a U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate as a Pipefitter; or eight years of documented Pipefitter experience; or five years of documented Pipefitter experience and three years in a related trade.
• Experience as a pipefitter in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications.
• Knowledge of types and sizes of pipe and related metallic, vitreous, and plastic materials according to job specifications.
• Ability to use hand and power tools to measure, cut, thread, bend, file, bur, and ream pipe.
• Ability to assemble and install pipe and plumbing fittings using clamps, brackets, hangers, wrenches, pliers, and related hand tools.
• Ability to repair, replace, and maintain defective components such as valves, traps, toilets, showers, and drinking fountains using hand and power tools.
• Ability to inspect piping and plumbing systems, identify malfunctions, and make necessary repairs and adjustments.
• Ability to work any shift and some overtime, including daily overtime, weekends, and holidays, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to provide mechanical support to manufacturing operations by locating and diagnosing trouble in mechanical systems or equipment.
• Ability to complete required preventive maintenance at defined intervals on all mechanical equipment.
• Ability to perform tasks historically assigned to other mechanical classifications, such as millwright, machine repair, and sheet metal worker.
• Strong computer skills.
• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems.
• Knowledge of G-Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lay out and fabricate piping and plumbing systems, fixtures, and equipment.
• Assemble, install, and maintain piping and plumbing systems for steam, water, sprinkler, heating, cooling, lubricating, and related systems.
• Interpret specifications, blueprints, manufacturers’ manuals, sketches, and similar documents as needed.
• Plan the sequence of operations and materials based on pressure capacities, piping and plumbing operations, and materials.
• Measure, cut, thread, bend, file, bur, and ream pipe using appropriate tools.
• Assemble and install pipe and plumbing fittings.
• Repair, replace, and maintain defective piping and plumbing components.
• Inspect piping and plumbing systems to detect malfunctions and make necessary repairs and adjustments.
• Perform incidental tasks required to complete larger tasks.
• Provide mechanical support to manufacturing operations, diagnose trouble in mechanical systems or equipment, and complete preventive maintenance, as applicable to preferred qualifications.
• Perform work historically assigned to other mechanical classifications, such as millwright, machine repair, and sheet metal work, as applicable to preferred qualifications.
• Perform other duties as required to meet department and company needs.
