About The Position

Responsible for performing helper duties to assist the assigned crew. The role involves interpreting blueprints and specifications, laying out and fitting fabricated metal parts, setting up jigs and fixtures, marking reference points, and positioning or tightening components in preparation for welding or riveting.

• Industrial construction or maintenance industry experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work, including the location, quantities, and sizes of required materials.
• Lay out, position, align, and fit together fabricated parts of structural metal products.
• Set up face blocks, jigs, and fixtures.
• Locate and mark centerlines and reference points on the floor or face block and transfer them to workpieces using tape, chains, a plumb bob, and squares.
• Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt straps to hold parts in position for welding or riveting.
