About The Position
Statewide Conditioning, a FirstCall Mechanical company, is seeking an experienced Pipefitter for its South Amboy, New Jersey team. Statewide Conditioning provides HVAC services throughout New Jersey, while FirstCall Mechanical serves commercial and industrial customers with HVAC, building controls, electrical, and plumbing services. The role supports piping installation and equipment setting, working under the direction of the Lead Piping Installer and reporting to the local Project Manager. The position involves work in the field at multiple customer sites each day, with an emphasis on safe work practices, customer service, teamwork, and continued skills development through FirstCall Academy.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of commercial pipefitter experience.
- Knowledge of hand cutting tools, electric saws, and electrical and gas equipment.
- Experience with grooved piping and threaded piping.
- Experience with copper piping, including sweat, Pro-Press, and brazed methods.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals, compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and interpret graphs.
- Ability to use common-sense reasoning to follow written, oral, or diagrammed instructions and solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Mental stamina to solve problems and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and regularly use hands and arms for work tasks.
- Ability to regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
