The Environmental Charter School has an immediate need for a Health & Physical Education Teacher. Successful candidates must be progressive-minded and embody a can-do spirit and work ethic. Requirements

  • Degree or experience in education
  • Strong work ethic
  • A “whatever it takes” attitude
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • PA certification in Health/Physical Education PK-12
  • Candidates should be energetic and progressive-minded, with a willingness to work collaboratively with all educators at the campus.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior years' teaching experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in high school grades-focused physical education instruction
  • Experience in designing and implementing curriculum preferred
  • Familiarity with charter schools

Responsibilities

  • Organizes games and challenges that promote physical activity among adolescents from ninth through twelfth grades.
  • Develops motor skills and physical development and proper exercise and eating habits for children.
  • Adjusts curricula to adapt to children with disabilities or different physical abilities.
  • Responsible for the planning and orchestration of a Physical Fitness Day for students and runs additional activities to support student wellness and an active lifestyle.
  • Must have strong speaking and listening skills.
  • Must be able to observe all students and maintain discipline within the class.
  • Interacts with parents, other teachers, and school administrators.
  • Use the Environmental Charter School’s PE scope and sequence to create purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that support physical fitness, team development and sportsmanship, health and wellness, gross motor development, nutrition, and individual or team sports.
  • Create a positive, achievement-oriented, and structured learning environment in which all students can experience success.
  • Infuse joy and rigor in lessons so that students are excited about and invested in their physical and mental health.
  • Regularly evaluate student progress using a variety of assessment methods.
  • Utilize the Google platform for document development.
  • Fully participate in opportunities for professional growth.
