About The Position

BASIS Independent Brooklyn Upper School is seeking a Physical Education Teacher for immediate hire. The teacher develops engaging, content-rich physical education lessons and teaches students about exercise, sporting skills, attitude, and health. Instruction incorporates foundational practices such as warming up, stretching, and cooling down, and emphasizes attitude, performance, and sporting skills. The teacher may collaborate with other subject teachers to connect physical education with subjects such as science or history.

The role includes implementing the BASIS Curriculum, providing interactive instruction at a level above grade standards, designing lessons and assessments, tutoring students, and managing student behavior to support achievement, responsibility, intellect, and individuality. The position requires a bachelor's degree in the subject area; education coursework and certification are not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare subject-specific physical education lessons.
• Provide subject instruction above grade standards in an interactive learning environment and deliver strong results for students.
• Implement the BASIS Curriculum by designing effective, creative lessons and assessments.
• Collaborate with other BASIS Independent teachers in a professional academic environment.
• Tutor students in content-specific knowledge and skills.
• Manage student behavior to foster academic achievement, personal responsibility, intellect, and individuality.
• Teach students about exercise, sporting skills, attitude, health topics, and foundational warm-up, stretching, and cool-down practices.
