About The Position

The Pharmacy Assistant – Outpatient shall perform the following non-judgmental duties involved in working in a retail environment under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist: obtaining patient information specific to creating an electronic patient profile, obtain prescription insurance information and accurately enter it in the pharmacy system, check that information on a prescription is complete and legible at the time of drop-off, stock/order/update inventory according to established process, prepare medical insurance claims, direct clinical patient questions to the pharmacist for consultation, properly and accurately ring out the patient, inform Pharmacist when there is a new prescription being picked up which requires consultation, and other tasks as assigned by the Pharmacist-in-Charge or Pharmacist-on-Duty. He/she shall maintain an ethical, professional behavior that ensures efficient, accurate, timely distribution and control of medications dispensed through the Outpatient Pharmacy and keep current on Federal and State regulations as they pertain to pharmacy in a retail setting. He/she shall reflect and maintain a positive attitude representing the pharmacy, as well as the entire hospital. Requirements

  • Proficient level of computer skills.
  • Proficient verbal/written communications skills.
  • Ability to prioritize.
  • Able to effectively read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Able to perform cashiering duties accurately and independently.
