About The Position

Lighthouse Technology Services is partnering with a client to hire a Lead Performance Engineer. This is a six-month contract-to-hire role, performed in a hybrid environment in Charlotte, North Carolina. The worker will be a W-2 employee of Lighthouse Technology Services; C2C and subcontracting arrangements are not considered. The engineer will lead performance monitoring and optimization across enterprise environments, using Dynatrace and Zabbix. The role includes developing and executing advanced DQL queries, building custom Dynatrace extensions, automating monitoring workflows, implementing AIOps capabilities, and diagnosing complex issues in distributed systems and microservices. It also involves tuning large-scale Zabbix environments, managing AWS monitoring tools and recovery operations, configuring monitoring infrastructure across Windows and Linux, and leading a 24x7 on-call rotation that may involve critical incidents and C-suite stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience as a Performance Engineer with proven lead-level responsibilities.
  • Expert-level proficiency in DQL (Dynatrace Query Language) and custom monitoring solutions development.
  • Advanced Zabbix expertise across multiple versions, deployment models, and large-scale environment tuning.
  • Strong scripting capabilities in YAML, Shell, and PowerShell for automation and integration.
  • Experience with AWS tools, CloudWatch, and Azure DevOps for PBI creation and maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure during critical incidents.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and respond to C-suite escalations.
  • Solid understanding of microservices architectures, database concepts, and monitoring infrastructure management.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and optimize application performance using Dynatrace and Zabbix across enterprise environments.
  • Write and execute expert-level DQL queries for performance analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Design and deploy custom Dynatrace extensions and integrate them with application monitoring systems.
  • Lead a 24x7 on-call rotation and respond to critical incidents involving C-suite stakeholders.
  • Tune Zabbix for large-scale environments managing thousands of hosts.
  • Automate monitoring workflows using Dynatrace and Zabbix APIs with YAML, Shell, and PowerShell scripts.
  • Implement AIOps capabilities using Dynatrace AI features for proactive monitoring.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex performance issues in distributed systems and microservices architectures.
  • Manage CloudWatch and AWS monitoring tools, including backups, restores, and recovery operations.
  • Configure deployment models for monitoring infrastructure across Windows and Linux systems.
