Requirements

Responsibilities

• Greets patients politely and kindly.
• Assists in transferring patients between beds, stretchers, and wheelchairs.
• Escorts ambulatory patients to their destinations, walking alongside them.
• Verifies patient identification to ensure correct patient transport.
• Transports patients using stretchers and wheelchairs at a safe pace.
• Confirms 'ticket to ride' is available and complete.
• Secures patients and accompanying equipment for transport.
• Transports patients to exact destinations on time as instructed by the Dispatcher.
• Notifies receiving personnel of patient arrival.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Demonstrates reliability through good attendance and punctuality.
• Adheres to departmental guidelines for time off.
• Complies with Employee Health requirements, including annual health assessments, TB screening, and immunizations.
• Maintains a professional appearance and wears identification badge at all times.
• Notifies the Dispatcher of any problems during patient pickup or delivery.
• Utilizes Patient Tracking Software/program via beeper and telephone system.
• Uses delay codes appropriately.
• Verifies patient destination and necessary medical equipment.
• Performs Sixty-Second Safety Inspection and cleans transportation equipment before use.
• Denotes completion of safety inspection on log sheet for each transport.
• Ensures patients have identification bands and tickets to ride before transport.
