About The Position

Protective Coatings Inc. is seeking an experienced Aerospace Painter Level 4 for their Swing Shift. This role involves the spray application of multiple functional and decorative aerospace primers and topcoats on a variety of substrates and product configurations. The ideal candidate will have experience with spatter finish textures, dry-film lubricants, conductive coatings, intumescents, and Teflon finish systems using conventional HVLP equipment. Additionally, experience with conventional and airless ID equipment for coating internal surfaces of structural tubing is required. The candidate must be adept at hand shooting and stenciling, possess strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, and be able to maintain terminal equipment. Control of wet/dry film coating thicknesses according to prescribed requirements is essential. This position typically involves cross-qualification in relevant support functions such as racking, turning, sanding, equipment maintenance, and paint mixing.

Requirements

  • Excellent hand/eye coordination, practical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent vision (corrected or uncorrected) including normal color vision.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work alone or as a member of a team, with good cooperative skills.
  • Ability to utilize necessary safety equipment such as grade D air hoods/masks, Tyvek suits, neoprene gloves, and safety eyewear.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods with limited movement.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and correct basic equipment problems and technical considerations relative to coating defects.
  • Ability to analyze parts/product to determine the best technique or method for maximizing transfer efficiency of coatings to minimize waste and provide the highest levels of acceptable quality.
  • Ability to successfully apply all common aerospace primers and topcoats in both functional and decorative applications to a wide variety of substrates and product configurations.
  • Minimum (3) years practical experience specific to the spray application of multiple functional and decorative aerospace primers and topcoats on a variety of substrates and on simple to complex product configurations (geometries).
  • Experience with the application of spatter finish textures, dry-film lubricants, conductive coatings, intumescents, and Teflon finish systems.
  • Detailed familiarity with Conventional HVLP paint spray equipment in pressure, gravity, and siphon-fed variants, as well as conventional and airless ID pots, pumps, and guns.
  • General standard education including the ability to read and write in English.

Nice To Haves

  • NESHAP Operator Certification Training IAW 40 CFR Part 63 Subpart HHHHHH. (PCI will provide for relevant training/testing as necessary to ensure compliance).

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and assimilating work instructions specific to paint type, dimensional tolerance, and thickness considerations.
  • Loading, adjustment, and light maintenance of conventional HVLP coating equipment in remote pressure, siphon, and gravity-fed variants.
  • Setup and operation of conventional and airless ID pots, pumps, and guns.
  • Successful application of multiple solvent and water-reducible primers to a wide variety of substrates and all product and part configurations from simple to complex geometry.
  • Successful application of multiple functional and decorative topcoats to a wide variety of substrates and all product and part configurations from simple to complex geometry.
  • Understanding and maintaining best safety practices in accordance with prescribed directives.
  • Sharing best practices and technical skills with others as necessary.
  • Maintaining terminal equipment in good working order throughout the production cycle.
  • Controlling wet/dry film coating thicknesses IAW noted prescribed requirements.
