About The Position

Requirements

• Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state where the hospital is located.
• Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
• Current BLS/CPR card.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in all aspects of occupational therapy is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of additional languages is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients treated by Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, rehabilitation technicians, and occupational therapy students, accepting responsibility and accountability as indicated.
• Orient staff and students and assume supervisor duties in the supervisor’s absence when qualified and assigned.
• Assess patient needs and initiate appropriate occupational therapy interventions.
• Work cooperatively with other patient-care team members to maintain occupational therapy practice standards and interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Observe and evaluate treatment effectiveness and progress toward short- and long-term goals; recommend changes to the physician when needed.
• Perform patient assessments and reassessments according to policy, and complete accurate, timely QI scoring.
• Assess pain that interferes with patients’ functional ability or participation in rehabilitation, intervene appropriately to reduce pain, and contact the physician when appropriate.
