About The Position

The Occupational Therapist, Weekend Option treats patients with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. The therapist helps patients develop, recover, and improve skills needed for daily living and working. This position primarily supplements weekend staffing and is based in Orlando Regional Medical Center’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Services. It is full-time, Tuesday through Saturday, for 40 hours per week.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an approved occupational therapy program.
Current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
Current Occupational Therapist license in the State of Florida; a temporary permit is acceptable.
Acute care experience.

Responsibilities

Evaluate patients using information from patients, physicians, interdisciplinary team meetings when available, family members, significant others, and other data sources.
Develop treatment plans that integrate with the continuum of care and include specific goals and objectives.
Provide age-appropriate treatment and care for patients on the assigned caseload.
Assess and interpret patient-status information to identify age-specific needs and provide care in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
Use, care for, and maintain profession-specific equipment competently; observe safety precautions and explain equipment and its purpose to patients.
Re-evaluate patients and modify treatment plans and goals when appropriate.
Prepare written documentation required by the department and care team.
Recognize and communicate when patients have received optimal benefit from therapy.
Ensure accurate billing.
Adhere to the State Practice Act and Standards of Practice.
Maintain reasonably regular and punctual attendance in accordance with applicable policies and laws.
Maintain compliance with Orlando Health policies and procedures.
