About The Position
Skyway Behavioral Health seeks a Float Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide psychiatric treatment for patients across the lifespan in an outpatient setting, including its partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. Under the supervision of the Medical Director, the practitioner provides supplemental coverage at the Skokie and Downers Grove clinic locations and participates in coordinated care with a multidisciplinary team. The role includes carrying a clinical caseload and participating in all aspects of care, including psychiatric evaluations, follow-up appointments, treatment planning, team rounds, clinical staffing, DBT team meetings, and peer-to-peer insurance reviews when needed. The practitioner is responsible for the quality, safety, and efficacy of psychiatric care within Skyway’s treatment model and may provide consultation or medical management for patients in the neuromodulation program, including TMS and Spravato. Skyway describes its approach as an immersive, whole-person experience using specialized, evidence-based treatment modalities to address psychiatric symptoms and underlying biological, behavioral, psychosocial, developmental, systemic, and familial factors. The practitioner works with colleagues in disciplines including therapy, nursing, dietary services, utilization review, and administration. Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
- Completion of an accredited MSN or DNP program with a specialty in Psychiatric-Mental Health Care.
- Completion of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Certification.
- Must be free of investigations or sanctions by local and/or federal regulatory agencies.
- Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication abilities.
- Outstanding presentation skills for marketing and training opportunities.
- Proficient with computers, web-based programs, and an electronic medical record system.
- Ability to work independently while recognizing when support is needed and being willing to ask for help.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, respond confidently, and remain effective in challenging or chaotic situations.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.

- Three to five years of clinical experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and participate in patient clinical care and treatment planning, including admissions and clinical team meetings.
- Confirm psychiatric diagnoses, prescribe medical and psychiatric treatment, and supervise and direct the psychiatric aspects of patient treatment.
- Participate in implementing the quality assurance plan and ensure psychiatric care meets quality assurance standards.
- Provide consultation and/or medical management for patients in the neuromodulation program, including TMS and Spravato.
- Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary patient care team.
- Confer with clinical staff, patients, and families regarding diagnosis and treatment, and make referrals to specialists as appropriate.
- Provide clinical assessments and crisis intervention for psychiatric emergencies.
- Ensure patient medical records are accurate, meet legal and medical requirements, and are completed in a timely manner.
- Maintain relationships with community physicians and other healthcare professionals who are important referral sources.
- Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with outside physicians, care providers, and internal colleagues.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to create and sustain a culture of compassion and healing.
- Demonstrate concern and compassion for staff and promote Skyway’s culture with colleagues, communities, patients, and customers.
