About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides medical assisting services to children and adolescents with neuromusculoskeletal disabilities. Follow standards of medical assisting, ethical principles and humanism. The Medical Assistant seeks the integration and fulfillment of the patient’s rehabilitation needs based on their diagnosis. You will work closely with a Physician to ensure every patient feels heard, cared for and respected. From recording vital signs and preparing exam rooms to managing patient records and coordinating follow-up care, your work will directly impact the quality, comfort and efficiency of each patient’s experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certified as a Registered Medical Assistant by American Medical Technologist or as a Certified Medical Assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants
  • Criminal background check

Responsibilities

  • Follows Rehabilitation Medical Specialist and other Physicians instructions regarding medical treatment using general and specific medical assisting techniques.
  • Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
  • Record patients' medical history, vital statistics or information such as test results in medical records.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets or physicians' instructions to patients.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
  • Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing
  • Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
  • Respond to all Emergency codes with proper equipment.
  • Coordinate Referrals with vendors/physician offices/other providers
  • Performs other duties, tasks and special projects as assigned.
