The Baker City Family Medicine Clinic is looking to hire a motivated and team-oriented part-time Medical Assistant! Position Summary & Highlights This Medical Assistant (MA) position will primarily work in the Lab at the Baker City Outpatient clinic. You will work closely with other Medical Assistants, RNs, and LPNs and under the supervision of the physician and/or Advanced Practice Provider and clinical oversight is provided by the RN Supervisor, Lead Nurse and/or SAMG Nursing Administration. You will receive training and orientation that will allow you to support efficient clinic flow and communicate accurately and positively with team members. The Baker City Family Medicine clinic sees patients from preventive screenings to chronic disease diagnosis and management. Our providers can address diagnosed health concerns early, before they become serious, as well as help our patients better manage existing conditions including physical, mental, and social health issues across all ages and stages of life.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • MA credentialing from one of the following organizations is required to be completed within 15 months of hire or transfer date: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Healthcare Association (CCMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA), National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA), American Medical Certification Association (CMAC), National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA).
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
  • Comfortable and proficient with laboratory draws.
  • Independent and dependable worker.
  • Demonstrate a high level of personal integrity.
  • Experienced as a Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist with a willingness to perform all standard MA duties.

Responsibilities

  • Perform phlebotomy, urinalysis, Point of Care testing, and centrifuge.
  • Run quality controls on lab equipment and perform routine preventative maintenance (changing filters, calibration, etc.) on lab equipment.
  • Process urine drug screens for direct mailing to outside vendor.
  • Review and complete orders in EHR system.
  • Train other MAs on point of care tests.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Order and stock lab supplies and remove outdated supplies.
  • Occasionally cover for MAs in the family medicine clinic when needed, rooming patients, taking vitals and patient intakes, and other duties requested by the provider.
  • Obtain a Certified Drug Tester certification.
