About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience with detailed design of mechanical hardware.
• Experience defining requirements for mechanical systems and components.
• Familiarity with the space environment and its effects on mechanical hardware.
• Familiarity with material selection and material coatings for space applications.
• General understanding of spacecraft structural loads, including quasi-static loads, random vibration, shock, and thermo-mechanical loads.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent technical communication skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), due to the position's access to export-controlled materials.

Nice To Haves

• Experience designing, manufacturing, and testing space hardware with demonstrated on-orbit success.
• Experience running TVAC tests.
• Thermal and fluidic analysis experience.

Responsibilities

• Design spacecraft mechanical components, including primary and support structures, brackets, electronics enclosures, bulkheads, and wire harnesses.
• Design components and assemblies using CAD, including Solidworks and Duro PLM.
• Route plumbing lines for propellant feed systems and thrusters.
• Work with structural analysts to ensure spacecraft and component structural integrity through all phases of launch.
• Work with thermal analysts to ensure components remain within acceptable temperature limits.
• Conduct mechanical testing of systems and components, including vibration, static load, and shock testing.
• Support TVAC testing on an as-needed basis.
