About The Position
As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at St. Louis Composting, you are the driving force behind the machinery that creates our rich compost, mulch, and topsoil!
Requirements
- Valid US driver's license
- Must have personal tools (specialty tools provided)
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
- Proficient in air brakes and suspension systems
- Mechanical experience with a variety of heavy equipment.
Responsibilities
- Travel to various locations to keep machines operational - you'll touch them all - from mixers to sorters and the stackers and grinders.
- Swiftly respond to machine breakdowns, diagnose problems, and execute repairs promptly to ensure continuous production.
- Inspect, repair, and replace defective or worn parts such as bearings, pistons, and gears.
- Overhaul and test major components including engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
- Efficiently disassemble and reassemble heavy equipment and components.
- Order parts, provide status updates, and document corrective actions efficiently.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing safety and professionalism.
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to take on additional duties as assigned.
