About The Position

Clean Harbors is hiring a Vehicle Maintenance Mechanic (also described as a Diesel Vehicle Mechanic) in Benicia, California. The position is responsible for repairs and preventive maintenance of company-owned fleet vehicles and equipment. The mechanic supports drivers with vehicle issues, conducts inspections and routine service, safely moves and secures equipment, and helps maintain the facility. The role is part of a safety-focused team and requires compliance with safe work practices, facility permit requirements, and DOT requirements.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to work in a team environment.
At least 1 year of prior experience working on heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
At least 1 year of DOT inspection experience.
Must provide own basic tools.
Ability to pass a background check, drug test, and physical test upon hire.

Responsibilities

Comply with safe work practices, policies, and processes, and act safely at all times.
Move company equipment safely around the yard as needed.
Assist drivers with outstanding vehicle issues.
Perform preventive maintenance tasks and inspections on company vehicles and equipment.
Perform routine maintenance, including changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment, vehicles, and machinery.
Complete daily checklists as required.
Ensure equipment is properly parked and secured in compliance with facility permit and DOT requirements.
Maintain the facility through housekeeping duties.
Perform other duties and tasks assigned by management or required by business needs.
