About The Position

Clean Harbors is seeking a Diesel Vehicle Mechanic in North Canton, Ohio, to repair and perform preventive maintenance on the company-owned fleet. The role supports a safety-focused team and includes vehicle and equipment inspections, routine maintenance, assisting drivers with vehicle issues, and maintaining the facility. The mechanic must follow applicable safety practices and ensure equipment is secured in accordance with facility permit and DOT requirements.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to work in a team environment.
At least 1 year of experience working on heavy-duty trucks and equipment.
At least 1 year of DOT inspection experience.
Must provide own basic tools.
Ability to pass a background check, drug test, and physical test upon hire.

Related mechanical certifications are preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Follow safe work practices, policies, and processes, and maintain safety as the top priority.
Move company equipment safely around the yard as needed.
Assist drivers with outstanding vehicle issues.
Perform preventive maintenance tasks and inspections on company vehicles and equipment.
Perform routine maintenance, including changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment, vehicles, and machinery.
Complete required daily checklists.
Ensure equipment is parked and secured in compliance with facility permit and DOT requirements.
Maintain the facility through housekeeping duties.
Perform other duties assigned by management or required by business needs.
