About The Position

As a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III - Field Service) at United Rentals, you will perform maintenance and repairs on complex rental equipment in a safe and professional manner. The role involves traveling to customer job sites to repair and maintain rental or customer-owned equipment, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a clean and professional service vehicle. The position offers the potential to develop toward higher Service Technician levels and leadership roles in the Service Department.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
3–5 years of experience repairing or maintaining equipment and tools.
Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.
Must own tools applicable to the position.
Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

Safely maintain and repair complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
Travel to customer job sites to repair and maintain rental or customer-owned equipment.
Keep the service vehicle clean and professional.
Assist in training lower-level technicians as needed.
Complete work orders and other paperwork or electronic documentation accurately and on time each day.
Assist with equipment and parts pickup and delivery.
Perform other duties as assigned.
