About The Position

As a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III - Field Service) at United Rentals, you will perform safe, professional maintenance and repairs on complex rental equipment. The work involves mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems, including travel to customer job sites to service rental or customer-owned equipment. You will provide exceptional customer service, maintain a clean and professional service vehicle, document completed work, and may assist with training lower-level technicians. The role offers potential progression to higher Service Technician levels and leadership roles in the Service Department.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
3–5 years of experience repairing or maintaining equipment and tools.
Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.
Must own tools applicable to the position.
Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

Safely maintain and repair a variety of complex rental equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
Travel to customer job sites to repair and maintain rental or customer-owned equipment.
Maintain the service vehicle in a clean and professional manner.
Assist in training lower-level technicians as needed.
Complete paperwork and electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) accurately and in a timely manner each day.
Assist with equipment and parts pickup and delivery.
Perform other duties as assigned.
