About The Position

As a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III - Field Service) at United Rentals, you will perform maintenance and repairs on complex rental equipment safely and professionally. The position involves traveling to customer job sites to service rental or customer-owned equipment and providing exceptional customer service. It offers opportunities to develop toward higher-level service technician or leadership roles in the Service Department. The role is designated Safety Sensitive under United Rentals’ policies and procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
3–5 years of experience repairing or maintaining equipment and tools.
Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.
Must own tools applicable to the position.
Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

Safely maintain and repair complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
Travel to customer job sites to repair and maintain rental or customer-owned equipment, while keeping the service vehicle clean and professional.
Assist in training lower-level technicians as needed.
Complete paperwork and electronic documentation of work performed, including work orders, accurately and promptly each day.
Assist with equipment and parts pickup and delivery.
Perform other duties as assigned.
