About The Position

As a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III - Field Service) at United Rentals, you will maintain and repair complex rental equipment safely and professionally, using your mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel-system skills. You will travel to customer job sites to service rental or customer-owned equipment and provide exceptional customer service. The role offers opportunities to develop toward higher-level service technician and leadership positions in the Service Department.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
3–5 years of experience repairing or maintaining equipment and tools.
Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.
Must own tools applicable to the position.
Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 45 pounds.
The position is deemed Safety Sensitive under United Rentals’ policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Safely maintain and repair a variety of complex rental equipment involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
Travel to customer job sites to repair and maintain rental or customer-owned equipment.
Keep the service vehicle clean and professional.
Assist in training lower-level technicians as needed.
Complete and submit paperwork or electronic documentation of work performed, including work orders, accurately and on time each day.
Assist with equipment and parts pickup and delivery.
Perform other duties as assigned.
