About The Position
Schwieters Companies is hiring a full-time Material Handler, internally called a Prefinish Material Handler, to work in its warehouse. The role supports preparation and movement of materials, order completion, inventory accuracy, and on-time delivery. The successful candidate will work with a team, communicate progress to the department lead, and maintain product quality and safety while performing physically active tasks. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with overtime as needed. Pay is $20 per hour. Candidates must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen; this is a safety-sensitive position.
Requirements
- Previous material handler or warehouse experience.
- Comfort learning to operate a forklift.
- Good work history.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Self-motivated, self-directed team player and team builder.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work overtime when necessary.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
Responsibilities
- Prepare all material before loading it onto the shortline.
- Load and unload material properly onto and off the shortline.
- Be accountable for the product and assembly being worked on.
- Pick material using a stand-up or sit-down forklift.
- Manage orders so they are completed in full and on time.
- Use a scanner gun to check inventory and properly adjust material locations.
- Inspect all material for quality.
- Stand, walk, reach, and lift repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Communicate regularly with the department lead about work-order progress.
- Work with a warehouse team to achieve maximum efficiency and complete, on-time deliveries.
