About The Position

BlueLinx is seeking a Material Handler / Forklift Operator to work at its distribution center. The role supports the handling, storage, and distribution of building materials while following forklift training and safety guidelines and minimizing product damage. The operator also prepares shipping and distribution paperwork, inspects and maintains equipment, keeps the work area clean, and assists with inventory counts as requested.

Requirements

• One year of recent forklift or warehouse experience.
• Ability to proficiently and safely use a forklift to transport products and load or unload trucks.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure.
• Ability to handle physical tasks, including lifting up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to read and comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, and similar documents.
• Safe work record and stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load, unload, and store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material, including piece-pick and/or bulk material.
• Prepare paperwork required for distribution and shipping products.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the working and assigned area.
• Assist with periodic inventory counts as requested.
