About The Position

Requirements

• Post-secondary education, industry certification, diploma, or degree, or relevant licensure in Cosmetology.
• One year of teaching or tutoring experience in Cosmetology at the high school level or above, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Cosmetology Instructor License.
• School Manager License through the Minnesota Board of Cosmetology.
• Computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet applications in a Windows environment.

• Knowledge of techniques taught to students, particularly the Pivot Point curriculum and hair cutting, styling, perm, and coloring procedures.
• Knowledge of esthetics curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support to students in the classroom, lab, and clinic.
• As directed, assist students performing services for clients, other students, and mannequins, and demonstrate hair, skin, and nail products, equipment, and procedures.
• Help students master skills and provide one-on-one assistance as directed by faculty.
• Demonstrate and train students on the salon computer system, including retail transactions, printing work tickets, adding customers, and booking appointments.
• Assist students with retail sales, product recommendations, customer relations, and client checkout.
• Assist students with client consultations when requested by the salon instructor.
• Reinforce department guidelines, regulations, policies, and safety and sanitation requirements established by Minnesota statutes and the Minnesota Board of Cosmetology.
• Maintain and update MSDS sheets.
• Open and close the retail store.
• Complete monthly inventory and order retail supplies.
• Check in salon and retail supplies.
• Prepare and clean the lab and salon, perform routine maintenance, and notify the department chair of issues or concerns as needed.
• Balance the cash drawer and deposit revenues daily.
• Complete year-end closing inventory of retail supplies.
• Monitor the salon for compliance with Minnesota Board of Cosmetology requirements.
• Coordinate equipment kit lists determined by instructors.
