About The Position
Access 2 Interpreters, LLC is seeking Dari interpreters to provide in-person interpretation during medical, social service, and other appointments. This is face-to-face work, not video or telephone interpretation. Interpreters use their bilingual language skills to assist people who speak Dari and may take as many or as few available assignments as they choose. Assignments are available 24/7/365, although most are requested during business hours. As a contractor, the interpreter sets their own schedule; earnings depend on the number of assignments accepted. Applicants must be located in Central Ohio. The company welcomes candidates without prior professional interpretation experience and those who speak English as a second language, provided they meet the stated qualifications.
Requirements
- Be located in the Central Ohio area.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be eligible to work in the United States.
- Pass a federal criminal background check based on fingerprints and a 10-panel drug screening.
- Provide proof of completion of at least 40 hours of interpreter training through an accredited program, such as Bridging the Gap, Access 2 Interpreters' Access Academy, court interpretation training, or an interpretation certificate or degree from an accredited college or university.
- Provide certification of bilingual proficiency or pay for and complete a third-party bilingual fluency evaluation through an accredited testing and evaluation organization.
- Speak English and Dari.
Responsibilities
- Provide face-to-face Dari interpretation during medical, social service, and other appointments.
- Choose which available assignments to accept and set an individual schedule.
