About The Position

Access 2 Interpreters, LLC is seeking a Pashto/Pushto interpreter for in-person interpretation assignments in the Central Ohio area. Interpreters assist people during medical, social service, and other appointments. This is face-to-face interpretation, not video or telephone interpretation.

The role is described as contractor work with a self-directed schedule. Assignments are available 24/7/365, although most are requested during business hours. Interpreters may accept as many or as few available assignments as they choose; earnings depend on the assignments they take. Prior professional interpretation experience is not required.

Requirements

• Be located in the Central Ohio area.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Be eligible to work in the United States.
• Pass a federal criminal background check based on fingerprints and a 10-panel drug screening; the posting states these are provided at no cost to the applicant.
• Provide proof of completion of at least 40 hours of interpreter training from an accredited program, such as Bridging the Gap, Access 2 Interpreters’ Access Academy, court interpretation training, or an interpretation certificate or degree from an accredited college or university.
• Provide certification of bilingual proficiency, or pay for and complete a third-party bilingual fluency evaluation through an accredited testing and evaluation organization.
• Speak English and Pashto/Pushto.

Nice To Haves

• Prior professional interpretation experience is not required.
• English as a second language is welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Accept and complete available assignments according to the interpreter’s chosen schedule.
