About The Position

Access 2 Interpreters, LLC, a Columbus-based interpretation and translation business, is seeking French-English face-to-face interpreters for medical, social service, and other appointments. This position involves in-person interpretation only, not video or telephone interpretation. Assignments are available throughout the year, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, although most are requested during business hours.

Interpreters work as contractors and choose their own schedules and how many available assignments they accept. The role is presented as a flexible way to earn money while using bilingual skills to assist people who speak French. Applicants do not need previous professional interpretation experience, and English-as-a-second-language speakers are welcome.

Requirements

• Be located in the Central Ohio area.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Be eligible to work in the United States.
• Pass a fingerprint-based federal criminal background check and a 10-panel drug screening; the posting states these are provided at no cost to the applicant.
• Provide proof of completion of at least 40 hours of accredited interpreter training, such as Bridging the Gap, Access 2 Interpreters' Access Academy, court interpretation training, or an interpretation certificate or degree from an accredited college or university.
• Provide certification of bilingual proficiency or pay for and complete a third-party bilingual fluency evaluation through an accredited testing and evaluation organization.
• Speak English and French.

• Previous professional interpretation experience is not required.
• Applicants who speak English as a second language are welcome.
