About The Position

Sparibis LLC is hiring a Database Engineer to support production database environments and modernization efforts. The role performs Oracle database administration, supports Oracle APEX environments, and contributes to ETL, data migration, and Oracle-to-PostgreSQL work. It supports databases across on-premises and AWS cloud environments and collaborates with application teams, analysts, and DevOps. The position is hybrid in Suitland, Maryland, and requires onsite work as needed for program execution. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional experience as an Oracle DBA in production environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for eligibility.
  • Oracle DBA experience with installation, configuration, patching, backup and recovery, monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on Oracle APEX experience.
  • Strong scripting skills with Shell, Python, and/or PowerShell.
  • Experience with version control and structured configuration management using Git-based workflows.
  • Direct ETL and data migration experience.
  • Experience supporting or participating in Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration efforts.
  • Excellent attention to detail and responsiveness in day-to-day operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting financial systems or financial data workflows.
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL administration or application support.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
  • Experience operating in cloud or hybrid on-premises/cloud environments; AWS is preferred.
  • Relevant database or cloud certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Oracle DBA tasks, including installation, configuration, patching, backup and recovery, monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Support and maintain Oracle APEX environments, including basic development or troubleshooting to optimize pages, components, forms, and interactive reports.
  • Develop and maintain scripts using Shell, Python, PowerShell, or similar tools to automate operations, improve reliability, and assist with deployments.
  • Follow version control and configuration management practices using Git-based workflows.
  • Execute ETL and data migration tasks, including migrations from BASS and related systems.
  • Assist with Oracle-to-PostgreSQL modernization, including data model conversion and migration activities.
  • Collaborate with application teams, analysts, and DevOps to maintain stable, high-quality database environments.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation, SOPs, operational runbooks, and technical documentation in shared knowledge platforms.
  • Follow security and compliance best practices for database access, auditing, and data handling.
  • Support environments with financial system components and compliance requirements.
