About The Position

The Controls Engineer is responsible for electrical design for mechanical/hydraulic power stamping presses and related automation upgrades. Work includes HMI, PLC, and Safety PLC design; hardwire, panel, and field-device layouts; risk assessments; installation supervision; and full-line commissioning. The engineer creates, modifies, reviews, and verifies programs and electrical layouts, including during customer buyoffs. The role also involves supervising engineers, electricians, and millwrights during press-upgrade installations, directing installation tasks, resolving construction-related issues, and providing PLC, electrical, and mechanical commissioning support before, during, and after installation. This is a 12-month temporary assignment based onsite in Georgetown, Kentucky.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, an electrical technologies/technician degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • AutoCAD Electrical experience.
  • PLC programming experience; Rockwell, Mitsubishi, and Siemens are preferred, and PLC programming experience is stated as a must-have.
  • Electrical hardware design and modification experience.
  • Experience with equipment demolition, installation, and commissioning.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • PLC programming experience with Rockwell, Mitsubishi, and Siemens.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, review, and verify HMI programs using GP-Pro software on Pro-face hardware, including during customer buyoffs.
  • Create, modify, review, and verify PLC programs using the listed programming software and hardware, including during customer buyoffs.
  • Create, modify, review, and verify Safety PLC programs using the listed programming software and hardware, including during customer buyoffs.
  • Create, modify, review, and verify hardwire layouts using IAB and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Create, modify, review, and verify panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Perform project risk assessments related to bid selection, hardware procurement, and installation timing.
  • Create, modify, review, and verify field-device layouts using IAB and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Supervise engineers, electricians, and millwrights during press-upgrade installations; direct installation tasks and resolve construction-related issues.
  • Provide full-line commissioning support before, during, and after press-upgrade installations, including PLC, electrical, and mechanical support.
