  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • At least 10 years of professional work experience.
  • At least 6 years developing mixed-signal PCBA designs.
  • Experience leading hardware development of at least one product through market launch using a structured development process.
  • MCU experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Analog circuit design experience strongly preferred.
  • FPGA design experience.
  • Expertise in electrical circuit design and layout implementation that meet high levels of EMC performance.
  • Embedded systems design using MCUs/MPUs connected to peripheral components for sensing technologies, communication interfaces, and user interfaces such as displays, snap domes, touchscreens, and LEDs.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturability and Design for Test of circuit assemblies.
  • Platformed product-development experience.
  • Regulated product experience, such as medical, automotive, Industrial Life Safety, or SIL2.
  • Experience with FMEAs and developing control techniques to mitigate risks.
  • Excellent team leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivation and demonstrated ability to lead process-improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead hardware strategic planning, concept generation, architecture definition, and translation into system, subsystem, and component definitions, focusing on reliability, safety, and sustainability.
  • Provide technical leadership to electrical engineering and project team members.
  • Develop subsystem engineering requirements and rationales aligned with customer and system requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Work with Embedded Firmware Engineers to develop and execute Hardware/Firmware integration and diagnostic-coverage strategies.
  • Develop or update electronic designs to meet or exceed customer, marketing, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assess the impact of changes to existing electrical components, subcircuits, PCBs, and PCBAs.
  • Author engineering change requests and lead them through implementation, along with engineering and manufacturing change orders.
  • Complete CAD modeling and simulation, risk analyses such as DFMEA, subsystem requirements capture, schematic capture, board layouts, and board mechanical-fit analyses.
  • Develop or support test cases and requirements traceability.
  • Build and test designs from bench-level testing through formal verification and validation, using in-house test setups or third-party test facilities.
  • Support product quality investigations and root-cause analyses.
  • Follow development processes; lead and document technical reviews; and properly document, test, and control work deliverables.
  • Provide work-breakdown plans and task estimates for project estimates and management.
  • Use Agile methodology for hardware development, communicate clearly with project stakeholders, and use metrics to track and report progress.
  • Identify project risks and propose practical ways to close gaps and mitigate risks.
