About The Position

Child and Family Guidance Center is hiring a Qualified Mental Health Professional for its Waxahachie location. As a community leader since 1896, Child & Family Guidance Center provides a comprehensive approach to treating individuals with complex mental and behavioral health challenges across seven North Texas counties. The center is committed to offering quality, compassionate care, ensuring no one is turned away regardless of their ability to pay. Doctors and counselors help tens of thousands of North Texans annually recover from trauma and thrive in their communities. The primary responsibility of the Qualified Mental Health Professional–Community Services (QMHP-CS) is to deliver family-oriented, individual, and/or group rehabilitative mental health services, skills training, medication training, parenting skills training, and intensive case management. QMHP Case Managers provide interventions in community, home, school, and office settings to assigned clients.

Requirements

  • Must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in rehab counseling, psychology, social work, or related field as specified in the Texas Administrative Code Rule §353.1415 for Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP-CS).
  • Trained in working with individuals with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness, Children with Severe Emotional Disturbances, and delivery of services based on curriculum.
  • Possess basic therapeutic skills, oral and written communication skills, and organizational skills.
  • Must be goal-oriented, motivated, and capable of working independently and using good judgment.
  • Must possess a strong understanding and ability to work with diverse populations including various cultures, racial groups, and socio-economic levels.
  • Must have an intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Ability to relate to consumers, employees, and the general public in a professional manner.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be able to prioritize.
  • Ability to adhere to articulated policy and procedures.
  • 1-year professional experience in Case Management.

Nice To Haves

  • Training in child and/or adult counseling, and family dynamics preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide curriculum-based rehabilitative services to families, individuals, and groups.
  • Maintain all case records (notes, treatment plans, and uniform assessments) in accordance with CFGC standards.
  • Provide services at least two times per month to each assigned client.
  • Provide a minimum of 100 direct client contact hours each month.
  • Provide a minimum of 80% of client services in the community setting each month (80+ hours).
  • Document all clinical notations accurately and ethically, understanding they are legal documents.
  • Present all assigned cases for supervisor review.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, professional development, and other in-office activities.
  • Maintain required professional certifications and licensure.
  • Provide own transportation and have a working cell phone.
  • Maintain a valid driver license and auto liability insurance.
  • Cover office-based QMHP services temporarily upon request of supervisor.
  • Adhere to all current city, state, and federal laws, rules, regulations, and codes.
  • Safeguard confidential healthcare information in compliance with HIPAA.
  • Perform all duties professionally and ethically.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures in the Employee Handbook.
  • Professionally represent CFGC in the community and online.
  • Contact supervisor immediately if a consumer is suspected of being a victim of abuse or neglect, or if subpoenaed or called to testify.
  • Ensure community awareness of all services offered within the agency.
  • Serve on task forces when requested.
  • Provide consultation to other agencies contracted with CFGC.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
