About The Position

UTHealth Houston's Office of Development is seeking an Associate Director of Corporate Engagement. This role offers the opportunity to build strategic partnerships and secure philanthropic support from a diverse portfolio of corporate donors invested in advancing UTHealth Houston's mission to improve health through education, research, and clinical care. This Associate Director will work as part of a team to develop and implement strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward corporate support. The successful candidate will play an important role in growing UTHealth Houston's Corporate Relations program by building new partnerships and connecting the institution's educational, research, and clinical priorities with corporate funding interests. The focus will include both corporations with existing relationships with the university and new prospects not currently engaged with UTHealth Houston.

Requirements

  • At least three years of frontline fundraising experience managing a portfolio of prospects and a demonstrated track record of securing philanthropic support.
  • At least a Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in corporate and foundation gift fundraising, preferably in higher education, healthcare, or nonprofit required.
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge or similar donor software required.

Responsibilities

  • Manages a portfolio of corporate and foundation donors and prospects.
  • Works with prospect researchers to identify funding opportunities (RFP/RFA) that align with UTHealth Houston's institutional priorities and develop plans involving faculty to submit.
  • Formulates solicitation strategies in conjunction with development leadership and coordinates implementation.
  • Works closely with prospect researchers, development staff, deans, faculty and volunteers to identify and solicit for project-driven requests.
  • Participates in solicitation calls and meetings. Prepares necessary materials for those calls, such as briefings and proposals.
  • Assesses prospect interest, matching particular interests with school or institutional priorities, and then facilitates involvement of donors in the activities of the assigned area as appropriate.
  • Ensures appropriate stewardship of gifts, including providing informative and regular reports to donors.
  • Works within current organizational systems to implement efficiently and effectively; maintains communications modules, and helps to modify or establish processes for continued smooth operations as needed by CEFR (grant calendars, stewardship and other processes).
  • Engage with the Universities' Sponsored Project and Technology Management teams as needed to understand and manage areas of potential risk and coordinate institution-level approvals.
  • Travel as required to maintain relationships with donors and to cultivate new prospects.
  • Ensures effectiveness and appropriate utilization of resources.
  • May provide leadership, direction, and guidance for the staff within the area of responsibility.
  • Manages Human Resources activities of the department in regard to recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
