About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in the job offered or a related position.
• At least 1 year of experience using 3D computer-aided drafting, including Unigraphics/NX, to create 3D models and 2D documentation for individual parts and assemblies.
• At least 1 year of experience using GD&T to define critical part dimensions based on manufacturing capabilities and assembly tolerance requirements.
• At least 1 year of experience using simplified mechanical models of complex systems for initial hand calculations of design parameters and requirements.
• At least 1 year of experience using DFMEA and FMEA analysis covering design, manufacturing, mechanical/environmental reliability, and customer experience/satisfaction to inform design decisions and risks.
• At least 1 year of experience producing detailed models for complex FEA analysis and interpreting results to refine the FEA, design, and/or boundary conditions.
• At least 1 year of experience using data visualization tools, including JMP, to communicate mechanical testing and part/system performance metrics.
• At least 1 year of experience using presentation software, including Keynote, to communicate complex mechanical designs, risk ratings, reliability and test results, and design trade-offs.
• At least 1 year of experience determining suitable manufacturing methods from available techniques, including CNC, stamping, forming, casting, injection molding, and 3D printing, by assessing part requirements and balancing cost, quality, and system reliability.

Responsibilities

• Develop next-generation Mac and iPad devices.
• Collaborate with design, marketing, software, and technology partners to create new product forms and features.
• Analyze static and dynamic structures to quantify device performance.
• Participate in developing manufacturing and assembly processes with external vendors.
• Validate and characterize designs through multiple iterations.
• Create predictive models, conduct design of experiments (DOEs), and perform failure analysis to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Create analytic and finite element models to predict mechanical assembly behavior under various loading conditions.
• Create CAD models for future technology investigations.
• Build, assemble, and test functional prototypes based on CAD models, and compare prototype performance with predictive analytic and finite element models.
• Participate in brainstorms, design reviews, failure analysis, and other forums to share engineering expertise.
