About The Position

This hardware engineering position develops bench and system-level test PCBs for Broadcom products used in hyperscale data center applications. The role works across product test, firmware/software, signal integrity, mechanical engineering, vendors, and customers to define system architecture and deliver PCBs from design through manufacturing, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. The position is based in Allentown, Pennsylvania; Fort Collins, Colorado; or San Jose, California.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and at least 8 years of experience, or an MSEE and at least 6 years of experience.
  • Experience developing PCBs and driving designs through manufacturing and test.
  • In-depth experience with schematic capture using Allegro tools.
  • Experience managing vendors in PCB fabrication and assembly.
  • Experience production-hardening PCB designs.
  • General understanding of transmission lines.
  • Familiarity with high-speed PCB design techniques, including blind/buried vias and backdrilling.
  • Understanding of signal integrity pitfalls such as channel loss and crosstalk, and how to optimize designs to address them.
  • Board bring-up and debugging skills in an electrical engineering lab, including soldering and running wires.
  • Familiarity with common electrical debugging equipment, including DMMs and oscilloscopes.
  • Comfort working with command-line Linux programs and scripting.
  • Understanding of hardware/software interfaces and embedded software design constraints such as memory, power, and speed.
  • Understanding of power delivery network design tradeoffs for systems consuming 200+ watts per rail and 1–3 kW or more overall.
  • Understanding of basic mechanical and thermal properties and tradeoffs in complex, high-power PCB design.
  • Strong teamwork skills in a fast-moving, multi-site team.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and quality output.
