About The Position

Requirements

• Possess a valid, unrestricted Washington Dental Assisting Registration.
• BLS/CPR certification is required upon hire.
• High school diploma plus successful completion of at least one academic year of post-secondary education in a dental assisting program from an accredited educational institution, or equivalent.
• Be proficient in dental terminology and dental office procedures.
• Have basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn in-house programs, including the EHR system.
• Demonstrate the ability to work with a low-income, multi-ethnic patient population and relate respectfully and effectively to people from diverse racial, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Be a confident, self-directed individual able to work both within a team and independently.
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, concise and comprehensive documentation, strong technical writing, and record-keeping skills.

Nice To Haves

• 1–4 years of previous work experience as a dental assistant.
• Knowledge of dental electronic health records and conventional and digital radiography.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Assist dental providers in providing health care to clinic patients.
• Room patients and take patient histories and vital signs.
• Record patient information in the health care record.
• Assist with examinations and procedures.
• Follow up with patients.
• Develop respectful, professional relationships with patients to support their overall health and quality of life.
• Provide friendly, service-oriented care, use strong decision-making skills, and remain calm under pressure.
