About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 7 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree; alternatively, at least 5 years with a master's degree or at least 2 years with a PhD.
• Prior experience in computational research techniques and processes.
• Proven performance in an earlier or comparable role.
• Ability to think critically, draw insights, connect information, and make meaningful conclusions from data.
• Ability to work with limited guidance, solve complex problems independently, and apply computational research procedures to defined outcomes.
• Knowledge of the scientific domain and its informatics subdomain, including the ability to translate between scientific and engineering domains.
• Ability to use advanced statistical modeling, machine learning, coding, software maintenance, computational pipelines, and data visualization.
• Ability to interpret research requirements and independently execute relevant procedures, including handling process and quality escalations in one's area.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas and research findings clearly to diverse audiences and stakeholders, and to tailor presentations to the audience.
• Ability to prioritize data for presentations and publications and draft portions of these documents.
• Technical and scientific expertise in experiment design and issue identification, and ability to apply research expertise strategically and practically.
• Ability to adapt to change, recover from setbacks, anticipate roadblocks, and take corrective action based on data.
• Ability to work effectively with partners and stakeholders to find solutions aligned with functional priorities.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree or PhD.
• Publication record of 1–2 first-author papers with an impact factor above 10, or equivalent contributions to other research outputs.
• Continued growth in domain knowledge through scientific journals, talks, and conferences.

Responsibilities

• Lead computationally focused scientific research projects with minimal supervision from the principal investigator.
• Develop new computational methods.
• Identify, process, organize, interpret, review, and report relevant data.
• Direct data collection.
• Present research to colleagues within and outside the institution.
• Draft complex manuscripts with minimal supervision, as required.
• Regularly train and oversee others in computational research and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet department and institutional goals and objectives.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
