About The Position

Meta Reality Labs develops visual computing technologies for immersive experiences across Meta products and AR/VR platforms. The team works across artificial intelligence, computer vision, computer graphics, and computational photography, with research spanning generative image and video models, multimodal foundation models, neural rendering, novel-view synthesis, and learned 3D and 4D representations. The Research Scientist Intern will contribute to an ambitious research project, collaborating with researchers and engineers to develop models, representations, datasets, and evaluation methods. The work may be published and may influence future products.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in one or more areas of computer science, such as computer vision, computer graphics, image processing, or computational photography, particularly 3D/4D reconstruction and rendering, image and video diffusion, world models, Gaussian splatting, neural fields, or diffusion transformers.
  • A track record of significant results, demonstrated through grants, fellowships, patents, or co-authored publications at top-tier conferences.
  • Experience with modern C++ and/or Python.
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.

Nice To Haves

  • Intent to return to the degree program after completing the internship.
  • Experience collaborating across groups and cultures.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to convey research ideas to a broad audience.
  • Broad understanding of the machine vision pipeline, from sensors to high-level algorithms.
  • Mathematical background and understanding of linear algebra, numerical optimization, probabilistic estimation, and 3D geometry.
  • Relevant research or software engineering experience, including internships, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions to open-source repositories.

Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, and prototype advanced technologies in 3D/4D reconstruction and rendering, image and video diffusion, world models, Gaussian splatting, neural fields, or diffusion transformers.
  • Deliver research results that are publishable and have a direct impact on Reality Labs or Meta’s Family of Apps.
  • Analyze the efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and stability of currently deployed technologies to identify opportunities for impact through novel research.
  • Collaborate with team members throughout a project, from research and prototyping to product deployment.
