About The Position

Requirements

• Typically an advanced degree in a STEM field and at least 12 years of relevant experience, unless prohibited by local laws or regulations.
• A proven record of building nationally competed advanced research and development programs across disciplines, organizations, and missions.
• Experience managing interdisciplinary teams facing significant technical and programmatic risks.
• Experience managing and executing advanced R&D projects, including organizational firsts or first-known demonstrations.
• Experience applying emerging science and technology to national security challenges.
• Deep expertise in advanced electromagnetic systems, including synthetic aperture radars, RF edge processing, digital phased arrays, Rydberg apertures, and advanced antenna design, simulation, and measurements.
• Active and transferable U.S. government-issued TS/SCI clearance required before the start date and active on day one.
• U.S. citizenship, because only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.
• Experience writing and reviewing classified government technical specifications and generating system performance requirements.

Nice To Haves

• PhD in Engineering or a related STEM discipline.
• Experience planning and leading execution of complex analyses for DoD customers.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.
• Demonstrated success developing future principal investigators through technical leadership, proposal writing, sponsor engagement, and Co-PI assignments and mentorship.
• Experience with emerging threats and familiarity with technologies and CONOPS needed to counter them.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead Spectrum Dominance group efforts for a new Atlanta, Georgia office.
• Work across customers, NCT, BBN, and other RTX business units to identify capability gaps and future needs.
• Shape future research efforts to address identified capability gaps.
• Develop programs, win themes, innovations, and operational-impact concepts to generate proposals and white papers focused on customer use cases.
• Lead and grow the team through strong project execution and seek opportunities to expand the organization’s footprint in the Atlanta area.
• Bridge senior management and technical staff to implement and execute strategy through engineering innovation and concept development.
• Assess project strengths and weaknesses, deconflict and prioritize resource availability, and mentor engineering staff from requirements through fielding operations.
• Direct selected programs through maturation from inception to completion and serve as BBN liaison to RTX project teams on design concepts, criteria, and product research and development engineering.
• Work with RTX and its business units, including Pratt & Whitney, Collins Aerospace, and Raytheon, to shape technology roadmaps, identify transition opportunities, and mature research capabilities for RTX product lines.
• Travel as required, potentially up to 25%.
