About The Position

Requirements

• Certified Nursing Assistant certification issued by the State of Idaho, or completion of the Trinity Health Nursing Assistant Program.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification from AHA, ARC, or the Military Training Network at hire in all units, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS as defined in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills to competently care for assigned age groups: neonatal, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric, as applicable.
• Availability to work three 9-hour shifts per week, Monday through Friday, 0800–1730.

Nice To Haves

• Six months of Certified Nursing Assistant experience in an acute care setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform clerical, receptionist, and patient service coordination duties to support clinical staff at the unit level.
• Provide nursing care and related non-professional services for patients’ personal needs and comfort under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Ensure accurate documentation of services and supplies provided to patients.
• Provide direct service to Licensed Independent Practitioners to assist with patient care activities.
• Communicate clearly with patients and families to support high-quality customer service.
• Remove non-controlled medications from delivery points and hand them directly to an RN or place them in a secure location.
• On occasion, perform Unit Clerk duties, including preparing, compiling, and maintaining patient medical records from admission through discharge; accurately transcribing physicians’ orders; processing ordered tests and procedures; receiving results and reporting them to the patient caregiver; notifying physicians of admissions or consultations as directed; directing physicians to appropriate caregivers; and ordering routine and other necessary supplies and equipment.
• Follow proper infection-control standards and practices and use proper body mechanics for self and patients.
• Comply with organizational standards of care and the Idaho Nursing Practice Act.
• On occasion, perform Patient Visual Monitor duties, including maintaining visual observation, verbally redirecting patients in person or through a digital two-way audio device, summoning nursing staff when patients need assistance, documenting observations every 15–30 minutes as appropriate, handing off relevant patient information and behavior, promptly seeking help if a patient may threaten themselves or others, and participating in identifying and reporting patient-safety issues.
• Maintain a safe patient environment, seek assistance in removing potential hazards, and report findings to the Charge Nurse.
• May train as a cardiac monitoring technician based on operational needs and approvals.
