About The Position

Requirements

• Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an applicable mental health discipline.
• Licensed in Arkansas as a Mental Health Professional. If applicant is not licensed, he/she must have applied for and fit the criteria for licensure.
• Ability as a self-motivator and the aptitude to work in a high stress, fast paced position with a minimal amount of supervision.
• Good auditory, visual and olfactory ability.
• Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time and intermittently walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach with hands and arms.
• Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
• Maintain effective audio, visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, and reading and writing, and operating office equipment and other treatment equipment.
• Use a telephone to communicate verbally and a computer to communicate through written means, to review information and enter/retrieve data, to see and read characters on a computer screen, chart or other treatment items.
• Strength and stamina to perform clinical duties.
• Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 pursuant to CMS regulation 86 FR 61555, with exceptions only as required by law.
• Mandatory flu shot required for all positions (subject to qualified exemptions).

Nice To Haves

• Student interns who are currently pursuing a master’s degree in human services and/or paraprofessionals may also be used under direct and close supervision of a Mental Health Professional. The LIP must be of the same discipline as the intern as outlined in the guidelines established by institution where the student is receiving training.

Responsibilities

• Provide support, individual, group and/or family therapy for UMCH clients and families, as needed.
• Assist in developing treatment-planning goals/objectives with clients and/or families.
• Assist Treatment Center Staff with youth intake: assessment of youth; development and completion of intake documentation (psychosocial); assists with case management of clients.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Disseminate agency and program information to social service agencies, churches, childcare institutions, etc., as needed.
• Serve as a liaison for clients with other social service agencies.
• Coordinate appropriate referrals, as needed.
• Provide ongoing assessment and treatment planning consultation.
• Assist staff and/or clients with appropriate discharge criteria/plans.
• Provide client/family follow-up care as needed.
• Assist with pre-service and/or in-service training in areas of expertise as needed.
• Assist in preparation and help maintain compliance with Licensing, Medicaid and JCAHO standards.
• Keep detailed and accurate documentation of all pertinent client information.
• Attend regular treatment team staff meetings and provide pertinent input regarding client concerns, progress, etc.
• Coordinate with Managed Care / Insurance Companies as needed.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Clinical Director or other applicable personnel.
• Assume responsibility for continuing educational and professional development and make contributions to the professional growth of others.
• Document continuing education, etc., and provide to the personnel department, keeping copies in the employee’s record.
