About The Position

Requirements

• At least one year of experience (approximately 50,000 miles) driving a commercial or non-commercial motor vehicle similar to the type used by PITT OHIO.
• Pass a PITT OHIO driving test administered by an approved trainer or designee.
• Except for non-CDL drivers, hold a hazardous-material and tank endorsement or obtain the endorsement within 90 days of employment on a valid license issued by the driver's state of residence.
• Possess only one valid driver's license issued by the state of residence and provide information about licenses held during the preceding 36 months.
• Meet the stated driving-record standards, including restrictions concerning suspensions, revocations, citations, convictions, and at-fault accidents during the preceding 36 months.
• Pass a Department of Transportation physical examination.
• Consent to a pre-employment drug screen and have a negative result before performing any safety-sensitive function.
• Have negative controlled-substance and alcohol results from prior employers for the preceding three years and no disqualifying refusal to test within the preceding 36 months.
• Have no open violations in the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse; the query must show “Driver not Prohibited.”
• Submit a complete application and consent to a ten-year work-history check; identify and explain any employment gap of 30 days or more.
• Meet the employer's review of roadside inspections and performance history for the preceding 36 months.
• Demonstrate stable work history, good work ethic, dependability, and a positive, supportive, and cooperative attitude.
• Consent to the use of driver-facing event recorders in the fleet.
• CDL drivers must register with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a commercial vehicle while picking up and delivering general freight.
• Load and unload the truck, independently or with assistance from dockworkers; use mechanical freight-handling equipment when available and appropriate.
• Frequently lift, pull, push, and carry freight.
• Secure freight using straps or other methods when required.
• Inspect the vehicle for defects and safe operating conditions as required by law and company policy.
• Comply with federal requirements for transporting hazardous materials.
• Operate a straight truck in varying conditions in accordance with federal regulations and hours-of-service requirements.
• Maintain driver's logs and other records required by state and federal regulations.
• Perform duties according to company policies and procedures and comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations for safe commercial motor vehicle operation.
