Requirements

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English, except in Puerto Rico.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

Nice To Haves

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Good math skills for accurately counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
• Good computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers and patients, resolve issues, answer questions, and model customer-service best practices.
• Develop strong relationships with valuable customers.
• Assist the pharmacist under supervision and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policy; comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
• Use pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information accurately and process prescriptions, including retrieving, counting, and pouring drugs, verifying medications, and checking for possible interactions.
• Assist pharmacists with scheduling and maintaining workflow.
• Immediately report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and follow company procedures related to errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
• Follow the company's Good Faith Dispensing policy during applicable prescription-dispensing activities.
• Register related sales on the assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required, and help customers locate over-the-counter products when possible.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention, including calls to physicians.
• Correct and resubmit manual third-party prescription claims promptly and efficiently, and perform other assigned clerical duties.
• Support inventory management by ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments; apply asset-protection techniques and file claims for shipment overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged prescription drugs.
• May assist the pharmacist with clinical services, including collecting and properly labeling blood or urine samples, and coordinate services with pharmacy staff, Walgreens healthcare clinics, and external providers.
• Help maintain relationships with local medical providers and healthcare organizations through provider outreach and detailing.
• Help keep the Pharmacy Department stocked, clean, neat, and orderly.
• Comply with company policies and procedures and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state-required certification or registration; otherwise earn PTCB certification as a condition of promotion to senior technician.
• Attend training, complete requested PPLs, obtain continuing education credits, and maintain pharmacy and healthcare knowledge and skills.
