About The Position
Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. The caregiver provides in-home care to individuals who have difficulty performing basic day-to-day activities by assisting with personal care, administering medication, and providing companionship.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- When applicable, valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle required.
Nice To Haves
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
- Must be patient, empathetic, observant and committed to making the client feel comfortable.
Responsibilities
- Plans and follows a daily care schedule with clients.
- Modifies care plans as prescribed by medical professionals.
- Reports on any new conditions or needs that may arise.
- Assists with personal care, which may include bathroom functions, bathing, grooming, dressing, and eating.
- Follows a prescribed healthcare plan, which may include assisting with exercise and administering medication.
- Ensures the clients' home is organized according to their needs and that safety measures are in place.
- May be expected to complete some light housework.
- Provides emotional support and encouragement to perform necessary tasks.
- Provides mobility assistance if required, for example helping the client in and out of a bed, a chair, or a wheelchair.
- Transports or escorts the client to medical and other appointments.
- Monitors and reports changes in health, behavior, and needs.
