About The Position

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Hold at least a Kentucky state license as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), EMT, or equivalent education or training.
• Be enrolled in an accredited nursing, medical, or helping-profession program and have completed at least two semesters.
• Be certified, or willing to become certified, in American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED or American Heart BLS with AED, and American Red Cross Wilderness First Aid.
• Have one year of experience working in childcare, a youth program, or a camp.
• Have one year of health-care-related experience.
• Have at least four months of direct crisis-management experience.
• Have experience in pediatrics or first aid, preferably in a camp or school setting.
• Meet state, federal, and ACA requirements for summer camp employment.
• Demonstrate strong communication, writing, and public-speaking skills.
• Be adaptable and flexible in a fast-paced work environment and able to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrate integrity while supervising children and maintain excellent customer service throughout the summer.
• Be comfortable using Microsoft Suites, CampDoc, and a computer.
• Have access to reliable transportation.
• Complete a background check and provide other required forms and details.
• Strictly follow confidentiality policies when addressing health needs.
• Be comfortable and competent driving a motorized vehicle.
• Complete a health history before the start of the camp season.

Responsibilities

• Manage weekly and daily camper health-screening procedures and results.
• Collect, administer, and document camper and staff medications under restricted access.
• Communicate with and advise staff about accommodations for special medical, health, or wellness considerations.
• Use the CampDoc digital health database to record health summaries, care notes, and administered medications, and communicate with caregivers or staff when appropriate.
• Prepare and restock first-aid kits and supplies for each session.
• Maintain the cleanliness, organization, care, maintenance, and inventory of the health center and medication delivery room.
• Support routine and emergency health procedures in consultation with the executive camp director and in accordance with established guidelines.
• Report incidents of abuse or potential abuse involving campers to the appropriate authorities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
